John Hamilton, Yeoman of Concord

as he is described in early Brookfield records, was the son of the immigrant John Hamilton who arrived in Boston in 1650 as a Scottish POW captured by Cromwell at the battle of Dunbar. He probably arrived on the ship Unity. Yeoman John arrived in Brookfield in 1701 and became one of the largest landowners in the area, his family intermarrying with many of the early families of Brookfield. Published genealogies are available at all the libraries, historical commissions, and historical societies in the Brookfields. A descendant tree with over 12,000 members is available on Ancestry.com, and there is a forum of Hamilton descendant researchers on Yahoo.com.
